Jalil Johnson is a fashion stylist, writer, and digital creator known for his refined eye and cultural influence in the fashion industry. Originally from Hurt, Virginia, he moved to New York City to attend NYU, where he immersed himself in the world of luxury fashion and styling. With experience at a multi-brand luxury retailer, Saks Fifth Avenue, Jalil has developed a distinctive voice that blends vintage aesthetics with modern sensibilities. In 2023, he launched Consider Yourself Cultured, a bi-weekly newsletter that explores fashion, style, and cultural narratives, solidifying his role as a thought leader in the industry. His collaboration with At Present on a jewelry collection further highlights his ability to merge timeless elegance with contemporary design, shaping the way fashion is perceived and experienced.
For the In Conversation editorial at Deer Mountain Inn, Jalil Johnson brought his distinctive perspective on fashion, style, and culture to the serene Catskills setting. Collaborating closely with the creative director, I styled Jalil in a curated mix of 3.1 Phillip Lim, The Row, and Tibi, focusing on sharp tailoring and clean silhouettes that grounded each look in effortless sophistication. Prada, Calvin Klein by Raf Simons, and Simone Rocha introduced an abstract, voluminous, and artful approach, adding movement and depth to the narrative. Accessories played a key role in defining Jalil’s playful yet polished aesthetic—Marni, vintage Chanel, and Loewe, alongside upcycled scarves by Chris J Easter, added a refined yet quirky touch, seamlessly blending modern elegance with unexpected character. The editorial celebrated Jalil’s influence in fashion while embodying Dora Maar’s ethos of individuality and thoughtful curation.
